I’m Tiffany Candioti, the lead teacher and founder of Yoga in the Triangle. I am a Triangle, North Carolina-based yoga teacher. I have been practicing yoga and meditation for over 20 years, but it was my work behind a desk that ultimately led me to a career in teaching.
My training includes:
200-Hour Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training and Certification with Hassina Mirica-Albukhary and Terhi Mengel at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Health Care Wellness Centers
Continued study in the Raleigh-based Blue Lotus Advanced Teacher Training Program
Office Yoga Teacher Training Program with Kim Sin Office Yoga
Mentorship under Hassina Mirica-Albukhary of YTT Journey and Jill Sockman of Blue Lotus
I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS). I am CPR and First Aid certified through the Red Cross and carry current liability insurance.
I began practicing yoga as a complement to my movement and dance studies as a theater major in college. A brief professional theater career took me coast to coast, taking my practice with me. From a month spent living and studying at Ananda Ashram in Monroe, NY to practicing yoga at Maya Yoga Studio on the island of Maui, yoga has always been a part of my life. But, it was working behind a desk that ultimately led me to teach. After transitioning into a fundraising and grant-writing role at a non-profit arts organization in California, I discovered that the ability to focus I’d learned through yoga and meditation lent itself to marathon sitting sessions at the desk, writing and preparing grants and reports.
The yoga class at the end of the day was a welcome relief, but over time, sitting for long periods began to take its toll on my body and overall wellness. In 2015, I discovered the practice of “Desk Yoga” through Jacqui Burge, the founder of Ojai, CA-based wellness website Desk Yogi. I followed the program and I began to understand why I couldn’t find relief from my symptoms by attending an hour of yoga after sitting and working at the computer all day long.
As I began to implement the skills of workplace movement and wellness, my interest in the impacts of movement on overall health increased. After relocating to North Carolina in 2016, I made the decision to dedicate my career to helping others prevent pain, discomfort, and stress through yoga and meditation. I achieved my Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) status through The University of North Carolina Health Care Wellness Centers, followed by enrollment in the Raleigh-based Blue Lotus Advanced Teacher Training program and completion of the Kim Sin Office Yoga Teacher Training Program. I have used my experience and training to develop a teaching approach that blends knowledge of the traditional yoga practice with the concerns of the modern world, addressing the physical and mental challenges that come from stress, sitting and commuting.
I am also a graduate of the Pacific Conservatory of the Performance Arts located on the beautiful Central Coast of California. I now call Apex, North Carolina home and I agree with Forbes magazine that it is the #1 Best Place to Live in America. In my spare time, I enjoy summers at Wrightsville Beach, exploring the numerous hiking trails around Triangle, and whitewater rafting with my family on the Nantahala River.
