Growing up in a household with two teachers for parents, Tasha has always had a passion for learning and a need to share that passion with the world. At the age of 18, I started learning martial arts as the result of coming face-to-face with a stalker and surviving. I knew I needed to feel safer in my surroundings and started cross-training in multiple styles of martial arts to see which one fit. For the first seven years, I studied eight different martial arts styles (7 Japanese; Aikido, Jujitsu, Shotokan, Ninjutsu, Bojitsu, Kabuto, Iaido & one Chinese (Tai Chi)). After seven years in a predominantly male dominated atmosphere, I began doing contract work with corporations, businesses, non-profits, and educational institutions, teaching self-defense. I synthesized my knowledge based off of these styles and Jeff Alexander's Warrior Spirit program. Using the techniques pulled from these multiple sources, I was able to find ones that worked for people from all different backgrounds and sizes. In 2012, I found my way out of an attempted assault by another stalker. Without the skills I had learned, I knew I would have froze. In that year, I co-founded a business called Ladies First -- an in-school and after-school program for middle school and high school girls which focused on self-esteem, body-image, and self-defense training. In a two year period, I was able to reach over 2,000 youths. 2015, I moved from Washington State to Hawai'i on the island of Maui. From 2015 through 2016, I was trained in CPI - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training. It was always my intention to continue on with the work I love to do -- teaching people to defend themselves. In October 2016, I launched my own business called ElleLiveAction [pronounced Elevation] meaning Women Living In Action. I am dedicated to elevating people to their next level. My goal is to educate, elevate, and advocate. Looking forward to working with you and if you would like more on my background, please look at www.TashaInaChurch.com
