I am on a journey of wellness that began in 2008. It was then that I began the process of shedding the excess weight I had gained since 1990. What prompted the change??? That's easy...getting diagnosed with Uterine cancer in 2006. I gave my body 18 months to heal after the surgery before beginning my journey to better health and fitness. I did amazing in that first year and got rid of 49lbs. I then hit some roadblocks in 2009 with extremely long plateaus, newly diagnosed hypothyroidism. I wanted to be able to help others in their journey to better health and fitness so in May 2010 became a Certified Personal Trainer with NETA. I am still a work in progress and want to be there for those that were like me when I began my journey, all I could do then was water exercise, and couldn't even do 5 minutes on the elliptical. Now I average 10-15miles a week on the elliptical(I love this machine), a minimum of 5 hours of water aerobics a week and strength training 2-3 times per week. I love the kettlebell it is an awesome tool I have a 10 and a 20lb one. A couple of my friends and I are walking together and doing a variety of workout DVD's together to keep each other motivated. I recently started the Couch to 5k running program. I hope to jog my first 5k in December 2010.
