I came to yoga with shoulder and back injuries. I learned how to modify poses and built up the strength to get stronger and heal myself enough to no longer need to modifications. In the process, the chronic pain faded away and my quality of life improved. Fast forward 10 years, and I discovered Power Vinyasa where I started really reaping the mental benefits of yoga by getting out of my head and into my body. Inspired, I took on teacher training to deepen my practice. I later broke my leg and found that I began to experience the true yoga off the mat by slowing the mind, getting in touch with my body, and even practicing through my injury by creating my own modifications. Without yoga, that would have been a very dark period of my life. But with yoga, I'm less than 6 months out of the break and surgery - and if you did not see the scar or know my story - you wouldn't know there is a plate and 4 screws in my distal fibula near the ankle joint.
I love yoga and everything that is has provided me with physical and mental healing. I choose to share this practice with clients and students so that I may guide and assist people to find the same freedom I have found through this practice.
