J.P. Montalván, C.S.C.S., is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), a Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Group Fitness Instructor with the American Council on Exercise (ACE), and a Certified Post Rehabilitation Specialist with American Fitness Professionals and Associates (AFPA). He is certified in Pilates Mat Fundamentals (SCW) and is recognized as a Schwinn Indoor Cycling Instructor. He has practiced various martial arts styles for over 2 years, and he has practiced Thai Kickboxing (also known as Muay Thai) for 5 years. He has also achieved the top level of "Master Trainer" from IDEA, a leading association for fitness professionals. He has served as Fitness Expert for the Washington Post and is listed as a "Top Trainer" by Washingtonian Magazine. He is a frequent writer, lecturer, presenter and expert on health and fitness. J.P. has served as regional director for the Washington, D.C. region of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) licensed coach and has extensive experience coaching middle school and high school boys and girls soccer.
