What/Who inspired you to start your own business? What was the greatest challenge that you encountered along the way?
I was inspired to pursue my career in health and fitness mainly by the positive feedback and reinforcement of my sister Emmanuella. I continued to feed my desire and passion for athletics beyond high school and college competitive years through my personal workout regimen. Emmanuella, already successfully established in her fitness training career, noted the progress that I was making in my weight training split workouts and encouraged me to pursue mine as well. Having a strong background in customer relations and hospitality, my passion for competitive sports and fitness helped me bring all of the elements together to go forth into health and fitness.
The greatest challenge that I encountered along the way of going into business for myself was the restriction I felt while I was running personal and group fitness training for larger corporate gyms and health clubs. I constantly saw the main priority being to generate volume in training sessions conducted instead of focusing on the genuine care and progress of each personal training client. This concept was extremely challenging to manage because I felt I wanted to maintain my energy on helping clients meet health and fitness goals rather than the imposing corporate pressure to meet projections.
How would you describe your usual clients?
I work with a wide range of clients with goals across the board. From brides and grooms who seek to look their best for their Big Day to women who have recently given birth to those who seek to improve their overall health with weight loss or other major health related benefits, my clientele is quite diverse. Other popular health and fitness goals that clients seek my services for are the extensive fitness competition prep goals, various sports performance goals, the corrective exercise fitness goals for those who have experienced challenges in exercise function and performance, and time-oriented fitness goals that clients seek to look and feel ideal for a vacation or another memorable event.
What do you think is the most effective strategy to keep your customers happy and satisfied with your services?
I believe that in conjunction with providing a strong skillset in fitness, conducting a challenging yet manageable exercise training program is vital to keeping my clients happy and satisfied. I track their progress through certain benchmarks such as body measurements, body fat assessments, progress photos, and various fitness and sport-oriented assessments. I often say that my compliments are when my clients receive compliments. But above all, providing the utmost level of care and dependability is what has possibly become the most effective component. Once an individual becomes my client, they have a well-rounded, resourceful, passionate, outgoing fitness professional added to their support system who will relentlessly remain in their corner throughout their fitness journey.
What was your most favorite and successful project?
The story on page 2 is indeed my favorite success story to date. The individual who wrote me this letter just so happened to be getting married exactly two weeks before I was. Our common grounds and compatible personalities helped us build a great professional and personal relationship during the phases of our wedding engagements.
