Danielle Mahoney-Kertes, RYT200, RCYT, Certified Mindfulness Educator, Literacy Coach Danielle Mahoney-Kertes is a passionate lifelong learner who has been weaving her mindfulness practice into her teaching since 2013. As a former classroom teacher, current Literacy Specialist and perpetual advocate for children, she teaches mindfulness to students in Pre-K through fifth grade in a New York City, Department of Education public school and provides professional development to administrators, teachers and parents.She received her BA in Sociology and Elementary Education from Queens College in 2000 and her MS in Literacy Education from Long Island University shortly after. She became a Certified Mindfulness Educator in 2015, after completing Mindful School?s Year-Long Certification Program. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) and Registered Children?s Yoga Teacher (RCYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of her yoga teacher trainings with Little Flower Yoga and Breathe for Change.In addition to teaching mindfulness, she teaches yoga to adults as well as children, including students with special needs and English language learners. She is dedicated to ensure the secular, safe, adaptive and inclusive teaching of mindfulness and yoga to NYC public school students, their families, teachers and administration. She is an advocate for wellness initiatives that benefit all members of her school community. She works with struggling readers, leads teacher teams, mentors new teachers and collaborates with parents. She is an active volunteer and enjoys bringing people together to help those in need.Danielle is grateful to have the opportunity to bring mindfulness and yoga to the people in her community.
