Andy Chuquimia

Seal Beach, CA 90740

Having resided in the confines of the Midwest for 25 years, it was time to try something new.Andy's yoga journey began upon his move to San Diego from Iowa in 2014. While he spent most of his time exploring and getting to know his new community through traditional fitness (i.e., running, hiking, biking, etc.). He also found some Southern California inspiration along the way and took up yoga and surf as almost daily practices. In the time that followed, he had to release his ego, feel vulnerable, and learn to ask for help, in order to integrate with others and get involved in the very powerful, healthy, and fitness motivated environment of Americas Finest City, San Diego, CA. With his daily yoga practice and involvement in November Project, a grassroots fitness community, this was a pleasant process for Andy. He ended up taking a sabbatical from the lab early in 2016 to complete his Yoga Teacher Training at Reach Yoga, in his local neighborhood of Pacific Beach. It was through this training that he found his breath, his pranayama. Such a powerful learned tool, and one that continues to shape his life and his practices today.?In 2017, his main work still persists in the sciences as a Chemist, however, his life lies outside in the community. He is an IRONMAN Tri-Athlete racing with TeamChallenge on behalf of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). He is a Registered Yoga Teacher (200-E-RYT) versed in Power Yoga, and teaches indoor/outdoor, donation-based, and private classes. He is a Certified Personal Trainer (NASM-CPT), cardio-based, and hosts indoor/outdoor, donation-based, and private classes. He is a Drone Pilot (GoPro Karma) for action sports and events, prices subject to details. And he leads a hiking/yoga retreat in Palm Desert twice a year (Cactus to Clouds). As a lover of fitness, the outdoors, and community involvement, his practice is designed to get people outside, active, and involved it making this world a better place. He is working on a few new projects and updates that he hopes to launch this year.
